Do you offer ANPA as one of the new formats in the AP Media API?

ANPA and AP WebFeeds retirements have been completed. Removing ANPA as an option in the new AP Media API means we are not encumbering a forward-looking system with a format from the past, with the additional upkeep that it requires.

How does this impact me?

As an ANPA user, you need to upgrade your CMS to ingest NITF text for stories, captions, scripts and shotlists. Depending on the needs of your organization, you can also use the detailed item metadata from AP Media API to manage content. Item metadata is available in both JSON and NewsML-G2. For information about specific JSON and NewsML-G2 metadata fields that you can use to route and manage content, see the ANPA Migration Metadata Guide.

What steps is the AP taking to help with this transition?

The AP has been working with many leading CMS vendors to help them upgrade their systems and eliminate dependencies on ANPA. Our integration specialists are ready to assist you with any aspect of the upgrade to AP Media API and the ANPA retirement.

What if I am using ANPA with ENPS?

If you are using ENPS, see ENPS Transition to AP Media API for more information.

How do I get started on AP Media API or Media Agent?

If you would like to get started, please submit your contact information or the information of the technical contact who will handle the transition for your organization here. We will follow up by sending your technical contact a Welcome Letter containing instructions to access your API key and link to the AP Media API and Agent documentation and resources.

If you are accessing AP WebFeeds directly and looking for AP Media API developer documentation, learn more about getting started with AP Media API and migrating from AP WebFeeds.

If you are migrating from the AP WebFeeds Agent to the AP Media Agent, see AP Media Agent FAQs and the Migration Guide for Agent Users.

How can I stay up to date on future AP Media API and AP WebFeeds related communications?

Please sign up to the "AP API Notifications (WebFeeds, Media API)" list on the AP Customer Support website (click Notifications and sign in). Please forward this information to your colleagues who will also need to receive these notifications.

For all related support documentation and communications for the AP WebFeeds - ANPA retirement and AP Media API migration, please visit our Migrations Support page on the AP Customer Support website (click Documentation, sign in, and then click AP WebFeeds & ANPA Retirement at left).

How do I route and manage content received via Media API?

AP Media API delivers item metadata in both JSON and NewsML-G2. The ANPA Migration Metadata Guide suggests specific fields that you could use to route and manage content based on how you might have been using metadata in the ANPA headers.
