Voter Registration Requirements Report

Description

Tracks state-by-state voter registration requirements for primaries and presidential nominating events. Current registration numbers by state are provided where available.

This table describes the XML elements used in the Voter Registration Requirements report.

XML Element	Description
PriRulesRegistrationRequirementsyear	The tag for this report; for example, PriRulesRegistrationRequirements2024.
lastupdated	The date when the report was last updated.
stateRegistrationRequirements	Contains registration requirements for a state.
STATENUMBER	AP State ID. For more information, see State IDs.
STATENAME	Name of the state.
PRIMARY_DATE	Date of the primary event.
EVENT	Code for the event type: PS (Presidential/State Primary), S (State Primary), P (Presidential nominating event).
ELECTION_DAY_REGISTRATION	"YES" or "NO" to confirm if Election Day registration is allowed.
CURRENT_REGISTRATION	Confirms number of voters registered by party, where available.
PRIMARY_NUMBER_of_DAYS_PRIOR_REG_DEADLINE	Number of days the registration deadline is before the primary nominating event.
PRIMARY_FINAL_REG_DEADLINE_DATE	Deadline to register for the primary.
AFFILIATE_AT_REGISTRATION	"YES" or "NO" to confirm if there is an affiliate at the point of registration.
ELECTION_DAY_OPTIONS	Confirms registration options on Election Day.
REGISTRATION_NOTE	Additional notes on voter registration.
GE_NUMBER_of_DAYS_PRIOR_REG_DEADLINE	Number of days the registration deadline is before the general election.
GE_FINAL_REG_DEADLINE_DATE	Deadline to register for the general election.
