Recount Rules Report

Description

Confirms rules for mandatory and non-mandatory recounts state-by-state.

This table describes the XML elements used in the Recount Rules report.

XML Element	Description
RecountRulesyear	The tag for this report; for example, RecountRules2024.
lastupdated	The date when the report was last updated.
stateRecountRules	Contains registration requirements in the state.
Year	Year write-in rules pertain to.
StateNumber	AP State ID. For more information, see State IDs.
State_Code	State postal code.
State_has_a_recount_law	"YES" or "NO" as to whether or not the state has a recount law.
Does_state_law_ever_mandate_recounts	"YES" or "NO" as to whether there is a situation where state law mandates a recount.
Under_what_circumstances_does_law_mandate_recount	Confirms circumstance state law requires a recount.
When_must_mandatory_recount_be_completed	Timing for when the mandatory recount must be completed.
Can_a_non-mandatory_recount_be_requested	"YES" or "NO" as to whether a non-mandatory recount can be requested.
Under_what-circumstances_is_non-mandatory_recount_permitted	Confirms requirements, if any, for the state to allow for a non-mandatory recount, where applicable.
Deadline_to_request_a_non-mandatory_recount	Deadline for a non-mandatory recount to be requested, where applicable.
When_must_non-mandatory_recount_be_completed	Timing for when a non-mandatory recount must be completed, where applicable.
Who_pays_for_non-mandatory_recount	Confirms who is responsible for paying for a non-mandatory recount, where applicable.
Can_a_partial_recount_be_requested	"YES" or "NO" as to whether a partial recount can be requested.
Recount_Notes	Any additional notes regarding the state recount rules.
Recount_Citation	State law citation.
